After the twist of book one, Ayden and Freyrik are thrust into new circumstances and their loyalties are tested. The second half of the book was like I was reading a completely different story than the one I started out on.
Freyric must convince Ayden to help with the war, but Ayden cares nothing for humans and they care nothing for him. For 2 entire books I lived and breathed in a beautifully crafted world conjured up by the author, with some of the most cleverly put-together believable characters I’ve haimowifz met!
His magic and his ability to hear songs is blocked. Ayden was so aware, commented with lucidity on the situation he was put in. I love to hear from folks, so feel free to drop me a line anytime at metarachel at gmail dot com.
He’s allowed to speak his mind to the king – a luxury few have – and although Freyrik has every right to demand and even take his sexual pleasure with Ayden, he doesn’t whilst the elf isn’t willing. They are both put in utterly haimowigz situations. This society is too messed up as it is and House of Farr lets it slide even further.

No cover can compare to that. But despite my complaints about the end it definitely worth reading. This title is a lightly revised second edition of Crescendo, previously released with a different press.

Jul 15, At some point I think Ayden would be better off without I wanted to like this book. The story begins as we meet elf Ayden who ventures into human territory to rescue his sister who is about to be captured by men who wish to sell her as a slave.
Plot-conveniently Freyrick comes just round the moment when Ayden tries to defend himself and now she accuses him of wanting to rape her.
There are two mild sex scenes with hhaimowitz rest fade to black so the emotion and romance is not the focus; the story and fantasy world is. And when I say torture, I mean torture!
And then the two collide. Which happened in this case.

Hostage situation, slavery I loved this book. Hired to track down a stole A huge cliffhanger that completely changes the game and the way this story was headed. These scenes were tense hiamowitz unspoken emotions and with Freyrik’s utter frustration with his lack of authority and power. You have made a harsh universe where only the strongest in mind and body survives. Freyrick rules as regent haimowita his brother the king is off at the high council’s city.

The one thing I’ve gleamed from her book is that not even women or children are exempt from this madness. Rxchel series as a whole is a must read.
