Retrato de ee vida muy pero que muy interesante y digna de tener un libro como este. Sin meterme en debates sobre la actitud de la autora, no tengo nada que objetar a su relato.

Oct 15, Madlenka rated it it was amazing Shelves: It toke quite long time to me to read this book but when it was done, I found out it was really good. This is a book which can give you something. I learnt gdisha things about Japanese culture I learnt about very interesting and hard life of a woman who is not as famous as she may could be. Many things from the times you weren’t even born are forgotten, and you can remind them.

She was one of the great Geisha of her era, met loads of important people, but the book is a bit too self appreciating. Kiharu is probably the worst narrator I’ve read in a while. The beginning of this books was pretty much she telling us who she knew kkharu little to non-context, barely explaining things just assuming people who read this would have a full master on the area.
I know it’s not supposed to be a manual of what Geisha life is like, but at the end it just felt like an old lady tell us a story with no context or even any desire for us to get the story. Probably she just wanted someone to listen to her The story makes jumps from one side to other, she could be talking about kimonos and suddenly starts talking about that time she rode a bicycle and then about Kabuki actors and then about what food kihatu wanted to eat.
It was a mess.
And then there’s Kiharu, I guess she didn’t want to talk about the bad stuff we all pass in life, but it everything felt to fake it was kinda hard Kiharu really existed.
She all perfect, she aced everything, never committed a mistake, the best in English, the best friend, not a great tell-teller though. I said this year I won’t oblige myself to finish books I find boring at the beginning. That exact reason was why failed to finish my reading challenge last year and I won’t be through that again.
